The Pentagon announced that it will send additional fighter jets and several thousand reinforcements to the region to deter aggression and reduce the risk of war. It was also stated that measures have been taken to strengthen air defense in the area. SIMULTANEOUS DECISION WITH GROUND OPERATIONS FROM THE USAUS Department of Defense (Pentagon) Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh spoke at the daily press briefing. Singh stated, "The Department of Defense is taking steps to further strengthen the posture of US forces in the Middle East to deter aggression in the region and reduce the risk of a broader regional war." THEY WILL SEND ADDITIONAL TROOPS AND FIGHTER JETSSingh noted that the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier group, which is currently in the region and due for rotation, has been ordered to remain in place. Additionally, it was reported that F-15E Strike Eagle, F-16, A-10, and F-22 fighter jets, along with "several thousand" personnel to support them, will be sent in addition to the existing military presence to strengthen air defense. Singh also shared that the Pentagon has increased the readiness level for the deployment of military units within the US to further enhance preparations to respond to various contingencies. "WE WERE CAUGHT UNPREPARED"In response to questions about Israeli officials' statements regarding plans to enter Lebanon on the ground, Singh said, "Ask this to Israel for potential operations; I have nothing to say. I can only tell you that we continue to work with the Israelis and are trying to learn more about what they plan to do right now." Singh reiterated that Israel did not inform them about the airstrikes that killed Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon on September 27, stating, "Secretary (Lloyd) Austin was caught unprepared. We were informed while the operation was ongoing. We have no involvement in these operations." "THERE IS NO TRUST ISSUE BETWEEN US AND ISRAEL"In response to the question of whether there is a "trust issue" between the US and Israeli defense ministers, Singh replied: "The two ministers have been in regular communication every day since October 7, and sometimes they even talk twice a day. They both know they can call each other whenever they want. Therefore, it cannot be said that there is a trust issue." Singh also directed questions about whether US-made weapons were used in the attacks that killed Nasrallah to the Israelis, stating that they do not conduct separate investigations for every Israeli attack, and suggested seeking more information about the attack from the Israelis. Nasrallah was killed in airstrikes carried out by the Israeli army on September 27 in Beirut. According to Lebanese authorities, since the communication devices used by Hezbollah were destroyed on September 17, a total of 1,217 people, including 104 children and 194 women, have lost their lives in Israeli attacks. Due to Israeli bombardments, hundreds of thousands of people continue to be displaced within the country. While there is a wave of migration from the southern parts of the country to the capital Beirut and the north, it is reported that tens of thousands of people have migrated to Syria.
