Salih Aydın, who lives in Giresun, was discharged from a private hospital with a diagnosis of 'muscle pain' after showing heart attack symptoms. Minutes later, he collapsed and his heart stopped. He was brought back to the hospital with a 'code red', underwent intervention and stent placement, and was admitted to intensive care. Following the family's complaint, the Ministry of Health authorized an investigation into the relevant healthcare worker.
The Ministry of Health granted permission for an investigation into an incident where a patient who arrived at Giresun Private Ada Hospital Emergency Department with heart attack symptoms was discharged with a diagnosis of 'muscle pain' and later suffered a heart attack and cardiac arrest.
HEART STOPPED AFTER DISCHARGE
According to obtained information, Salih Aydın, a resident of Giresun, applied to the Emergency Department of Private Giresun Ada Hospital on July 1, 2025, with complaints of chest pain, left arm numbness, nausea, and sweating. Despite these symptoms, which are among the critical indicators for a heart attack, it was alleged that the patient was discharged with a diagnosis of 'muscle pain' after a superficial evaluation. According to the claims of the patient's relatives, Aydın collapsed and his heart stopped inside his vehicle just a few minutes after leaving the hospital.
Aydın was brought back to the same hospital, this time with a 'Code Red' alert, and underwent electroshock and cardiac massage. It was reported that Aydın then underwent emergency angioplasty, had a stent inserted, and was taken to intensive care for treatment. The family claimed that the initial intervention was insufficient during the patient's ordeal and applied to the relevant authorities.
MINISTRY OF HEALTH GRANTED PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION PERMISSION
Following the application, it was learned that the file prepared as part of the preliminary investigation conducted by the Ministry of Health was evaluated by the Professional Liability Board for Healthcare Professionals. In a letter dated February 25, 2026, from the Ministry of Health's General Directorate of Health Services, it was determined that permission for an investigation had been granted regarding the relevant healthcare professional as a result of the preliminary investigation, and the decision was sent to the Giresun Provincial Health Directorate for implementation. The Ministry's letter also stated that the relevant healthcare worker and the complainant have the right to appeal the board's decision regarding the investigation permission within the legal period, and that the decision constitutes an administrative action initiating the investigation process at this stage.
It was noted that while the judicial and administrative process regarding the incident continues, the evaluations resulting from the investigation will guide the process.
