Things are in turmoil in Israel! Attempted knife attack on opposition leader

On the day people in Israel went to the polls, moments of fear were experienced in the capital Tel Aviv. A suspect carrying a large knife approached Yair Golan, leader of the opposition Democrats Party, during an election campaign. While the suspect, who was neutralized thanks to the attention of the bodyguards, was taken into custody, Golan held Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for what happened. After the incident, eyes turned to the election results.

As election excitement unfolds in Israel, a suspicious attempt targeting opposition leader Yair Golan prompted security teams to take action. The person carrying a large knife was caught before reaching Golan. After the incident, political tension in the country increased further.

KNIFE SCARE DURING ELECTION CAMPAIGN

The incident occurred at Railway Park in Tel Aviv. Yair Golan, leader of the Democrats Party, took part in a promotional tour organized to encourage voters to go to the polls. As Golan was meeting with citizens, a man in a jacket began approaching the politician suspiciously. Security officers noticed the suspect's movements and intervened. The guards' quick action prevented a possible attack.

A LARGE KNIFE DROPPED FROM HIS CLOTHING

According to a statement from the party, a striking development occurred as security officers moved toward the suspect. A large knife fell to the ground from the clothes of the person whose identity has not yet been disclosed. Thereupon, the guards immediately pinned the suspect to the ground and subdued him. Police teams called to the scene took the suspect into custody. It has not yet become clear why the suspect approached Golan or for what purpose he was carrying the knife. The police teams' investigation into the incident is ongoing.

GOLAN'S HARSH ACCUSATION AGAINST NETANYAHU

Speaking after the events, Yair Golan directly targeted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government. Golan, who argued that political tension and provocative rhetoric in the country fuel violence, said, 'Provocation and violence will not keep us from our path.' In his statement, the opposition leader further sharpened his criticism of Netanyahu. Golan said, 'Tonight we will end Netanyahu's regime of provocation and hatred.'

ALL EYES IN ISRAEL ON CRITICAL ELECTION RESULTS

The incident in which the knife-wielding suspect was caught occurred on the day the Israeli public voted for the 120-seat Parliament. In the election race, the two main political blocs are headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot. Due to the political balance in the country, the election results are of great importance. At least 61 seats are needed to obtain a parliamentary majority. However, in the current picture, no alliance appears certain to reach that number.

TOUGH NEGOTIATIONS AWAIT THE COUNTRY

After the election results, coalition talks are expected to begin in Israel to form a new government. If no bloc can secure a majority on its own, intense bargaining will take place among political parties.
