If a possible political ban is imposed on Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu within the scope of the case he is facing, it is claimed that the balances could completely shift in the new presidential election to be held in the municipal council. According to the shocking claim, if approximately 40 names close to Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu change their positions in the council, the administration of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality could pass to the AK Party.
In the aftermath of the management change within the Republican People's Party, a striking scenario regarding the future of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has emerged. At the center of the allegations is the possibility that the 'Fool Case' will be upheld by the Court of Cassation, imposing a political ban on Ekrem İmamoğlu. In such a case, the new mayor would be elected from among the members of the IMM Assembly, bringing the party's internal balances in the assembly to a critical point.
'40 ASSEMBLY MEMBERS MAY CHANGE SIDES'
This claim, which has stirred political circles and involves the risk of IMM shifting to the AK Party, was raised by journalist Aytunç Erkin on the program 'Directly with Buket Aydın' on TV 100.
Recalling that there are 185 CHP members in the IMM Assembly, Erkin drew attention to the fact that a significant number of these members are close to the former administration and stated the following:
'It is said that there are nearly 40 names close to Kemal Bey (Kılıçdaroğlu) in the assembly. With the conclusion of the 'Fool Case', a political ban will come for Ekrem İmamoğlu, so a mayoral election will be held in the assembly. They say that during a possible shift of these 40 assembly members, the likelihood of a different outcome is high.'
YARKADAŞ: A COMPROMISE WILL BE REACHED, IMM WILL NOT BE LOST
Journalist Barış Yarkadaş, joining the discussions on this risky situation in the assembly arithmetic, confirmed that this concern exists within the party. Yarkadaş stated that Ekrem İmamoğlu has intervened in the process and that an evaluation meeting was held in Istanbul recently regarding this risk, saying:
'I think the first compromise between the new party management and the CHP will be here, to prevent the loss of IMM. IMM will not be lost to the AK Party under any circumstances.'
