In the investigation into the death of a 14-year-old boy who was shot in the head while visiting a home in the Arifiye district of Sakarya, a 15-year-old boy was arrested after it was determined that he accidentally touched the trigger of his retired police grandfather's licensed firearm.
In the incident that occurred in Arifiye, M.İ. (14), who came from Istanbul to Sakarya as a guest, lost his life when the gun in the hands of his 15-year-old friend Y.D.S. accidentally discharged.
SOUND OF A GUNSHOT WAS HEARD FROM THE ROOM
A tragic event took place in Ahmediye Neighborhood last Friday. According to the information obtained, M.İ. (14), who resides in Istanbul, came with his sibling to visit a family friend's house. While M.İ. and his friend Y.D.S. (15) were in the room, a single gunshot was heard from the house. The residents, who rushed to the room upon hearing the sound, found the 14-year-old boy covered in blood.
SHOT WITH HIS GRANDFATHER'S GUN WHO IS A RETIRED POLICE OFFICER
Upon notification of the situation, health teams arriving at the scene determined that the boy, shot in the head, had lost his life. After the incident, police teams began a detailed investigation at the house, and the licensed gun belonging to Y.D.S.'s retired police grandfather F.S. was seized. Although initially it was thought that the child shot himself while playing with the gun, the investigation by the teams revealed that the shot was fired from a longer distance.
HE ACCIDENTALLY PULLED THE TRIGGER
Based on the obtained data, new statements changed the course of the incident. It was determined that Y.D.S. accidentally pulled the trigger while playing with the pistol, shooting his friend M.İ. Consequently, Y.D.S. was taken into custody. After completing his procedures at the police station, the child was referred to the courthouse and was arrested by the court and sent to prison. F.S., the owner of the licensed gun, was released after giving his statement.
