After the operation in which 2 people were arrested in 8 provinces centered in Diyarbakır for organizing on digital platforms and carrying out threats and blackmail against the family of university student Rojin Kabaiş, whose dead body was found 18 days after she went missing, messages were sent to father Nizamettin Kabaiş with a photo of a gun, saying, 'Withdraw your complaint, or you will go join Rojin.' Kabaiş went to the police and filed a complaint.
In the operations carried out by the teams of the Cyber Crimes Branch Directorate of the Diyarbakır Provincial Police Department, a network was identified that organized on digital platforms under the code names 'C47' and 'C99', creating closed groups focused on cyberbullying, blackmail, and harassment through illegal inquiry panels.
THREAT MESSAGE WITH GUN PHOTOS SENT TO ROJİN'S FATHER During the examinations, it was determined that the suspects targeted the families of Rojin Kabaiş, Hiranur Nilgün Aygar, and Kıvanç Uman, whose deaths were deemed suspicious, and carried out threats and blackmail through foreign numbers and illegal panel connections. In a simultaneous operation held in 8 provinces centered on Diyarbakır, 10 suspects were detained. Legal proceedings were initiated against the suspects for the crimes of 'threat', 'unlawfully obtaining personal data', and 'stealing documents related to state security by deceit'. After their procedures at the police station on August 10, 2 of the suspects were arrested upon being referred to the courthouse.
"WITHDRAW YOUR COMPLAINT, OR YOU WILL JOIN ROJİN" Following the arrests, threat messages including a photo of a gun were sent to Nizamettin Kabaiş yesterday via WhatsApp and BİP. After the messages, Kabaiş went to the police and filed a complaint. Stating that the threats have been ongoing for months, Kabaiş said, "Previously, many threat messages came from foreign numbers. Thank God for the state, they carried out an operation and 2 people threatening our family were caught. Yesterday, after meeting with the prosecutor in Van, when I came home, they sent messages again. This time, they sent messages via a Turkish number through WhatsApp and the BİP application. They threatened me by sending a photo of a gun and messages saying, 'If you do not withdraw your complaint, there will be a bullet in your head. Think about what will happen if you do not withdraw your complaint. If you do not withdraw your complaint, I will spray the house. Nizamettin, withdraw your complaint and save yourself; otherwise, you will also join Rojin, and what happens will happen to you'."
FATHER KABAİŞ: I AM NOT AFRAID OF THEIR THREATS Expressing concern for their safety, Kabaiş said, "We have no safety. It is no problem for me, but my children are afraid. I am not afraid of their threats and I will not give up my case. I will not let go of Rojin's file until it is clarified. No matter how many gun and bullet photos they send, I don't care. If they are going to kill me, let them come and kill me. They have been sending threat messages for 7-8 months. I want the state to catch these people and punish them. I will not withdraw my complaint either. I will fight more. Because my daughter was innocent. I went to the police and filed a complaint," he said.
