Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that the murders of Zeynep Yıldırım, İsmail Akın, and Abdurrahman Aysu, which remained unsolved for years, have been clarified through ongoing new investigations. Gürlek stated that since April 24, events involving 46 victims and 7 injured across 40 separate files have been resolved, saying, 'No matter how many years pass, we will not give up pursuing any unsolved case.'
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that three more unsolved murders have been resolved within the scope of the work coordinated by the Department for Investigation of Unsolved Crimes.
Gürlek shared with the public the details of the three cases resolved as a result of meticulous technological surveillance and evidence examinations carried out jointly by the Police and Gendarmerie organizations.
MURDERS OF ZEYNEP YILDIRIM, İSMAIL AKIN AND ABDURRAHMAN AYSU SOLVED
Istanbul (2022): It was determined that Zeynep Yıldırım, who had been sought as missing since September 12, 2022, was last in contact with Fethi Dağlı. As a result of the interrogation of Dağlı, who was detained on another murder charge, and the scene reconstruction procedure held on September 1, 2026, Yıldırım's lifeless body was found. The suspect Dağlı, whose identity was confirmed by the Forensic Medicine Institute, was re-arrested within the scope of this investigation.
Mardin / Nusaybin (2012): The file regarding the murder of İsmail Akın and his 10-year-old daughter Elif Akın in 2012 was reopened after 14 years. New evidence was obtained through contradictions in statements, HTS records, and narrowed cell tower analyses. In simultaneous operations conducted in 4 provinces, 15 suspects were detained, while search efforts for 1 suspect continue.
Manisa / Akhisar (2016): In new examinations conducted regarding the murder of Abdurrahman Aysu, who was killed in 2016, the perpetrators and suspects who concealed the crime were identified. In operations carried out in Manisa, Bursa, and Istanbul under the coordination of the Akhisar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 7 suspects were apprehended.
JUSTICE ACHIEVED FOR 40 FILES AND 46 VICTIMS SINCE APRIL 24
Minister Gürlek, sharing the balance sheet along with the latest resolved incidents, emphasized that the Department for Investigation of Unsolved Crimes, established on April 24, 2026, achieved significant success in a short time. It was reported that within the framework of the work carried out since its establishment, incidents involving 46 murder victims and 7 injured persons in a total of 40 separate unsolved crime files have been fully resolved.
"WE WILL NOT GIVE UP PURSUING ANY UNSOLVED CRIME"
Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek, thanking the prosecutor's offices, police, gendarmerie, forensic medicine, and special department personnel for their efforts in the process, gave a message of determination in the fight against criminals:
"Utilizing all the opportunities offered by technology, we will continue to re-examine every piece of evidence in old files, evaluate contradictions one by one, and lift the darkness over unsolved incidents. No matter how many years pass, we will not forget any file and will not give up pursuing any unsolved crime."
