In Tokat, 72-year-old Şehriban Öztürk, who was being treated at Sivas Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine Hospital under suspicion of Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) after a tick bite, has died. This year, the number of deaths due to CCHF in Sivas and surrounding provinces has risen to 11.

Sad news came from 72-year-old Şehriban Öztürk, who was hospitalized with suspected Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) after a tick bite in the Almus district of Tokat.

TICK ATTACHED A WEEK AGO

According to the information obtained, a tick attached itself to 72-year-old Şehriban Öztürk, a resident of Gökköy village in the Almus district, approximately one week ago. After the tick contact, Öztürk fell ill some time later, and as her condition worsened, she was immediately taken to Almus State Hospital by her relatives.

ADMITTED TO INTENSIVE CARE IN SIVAS

After her initial treatment in Almus, Öztürk's health condition deteriorated, and she was referred to Sivas Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. The elderly woman, who was taken into treatment at the Anesthesia Intensive Care Unit with suspected CCHF disease, could not be saved despite all interventions by doctors and passed away.

Öztürk's lifeless body, after procedures at the hospital morgue, was received by her relatives and taken to her village for burial.

The danger continues in the transition zones of Central Anatolia and the Black Sea, where tick cases increase during the summer months. With the tragic loss of Şehriban Öztürk, the number of those who died while under treatment for suspected CCHF at Sivas Cumhuriyet University Faculty of Medicine Hospital, coming from Sivas and surrounding provinces, has reached 11.
