Moments when school bus drivers in Esenyurt endangered the lives of students by driving dangerously were captured on camera. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated, "There is no place in traffic for any bus driver who plays with the lives of our children." A total administrative fine of 44,232 Turkish lira was imposed on the bus drivers whose vehicles were banned from traffic and whose driving licenses were revoked.
Two school service minibuses' drivers, who were heading towards Edirne on the TEM Highway in Esenyurt, changed lanes and swerved in front of each other. The service drivers, who endangered the safety of both the passengers in the vehicles and other drivers on the road, were reacted to by the drivers behind them honking their horns. The moments when the service vehicles endangered traffic safety were recorded by another driver using a mobile phone camera.
PENALTIES FOR THE DRIVERS
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated regarding the footage, "There is no place in traffic for any service driver who plays with the lives of our children!" He noted that school service drivers O.S. and M.E.T were caught by the Virtual Traffic Patrols and used the following expressions:
"The driving licenses of these irresponsible drivers have been revoked, their vehicles have been banned from traffic, their Route Permit Documents have been temporarily canceled, and legal action has been initiated against both drivers. Additionally, a total administrative fine of 44,232 TL has been imposed. Every driver behind the wheel must strictly adhere to traffic rules. Especially, service drivers transporting our most precious ones, our children, must be careful not to make even the slightest mistake. Moreover, weaving in moving traffic and driving disrespectfully is unacceptable."
