In a fire that broke out in a house in the Çiğli district of İzmir, 56-year-old Rezan Korkmaz and her 4-year-old grandson Yiğit Bulut Aydın lost their lives. It was reported that after saving her younger grandson, Korkmaz re-entered the house to save her older grandson, and her lifeless body was found lying over her grandson. In the fire, grandfather Bayram Korkmaz was injured, and an investigation into the incident continues.
The bodies of Rezan Korkmaz (56) and her grandson Yiğit Bulut Aydın (4), who lost their lives in a fire that broke out in a detached house in İzmir's Çiğli district, were received by their relatives. It was reported that in the fire, Korkmaz carried her younger grandson Mert Aydın (2) out of the house, then re-entered to save her older grandson Yiğit Bulut. It was stated that Korkmaz's lifeless body was found collapsed over her grandson.
SHE SHIELDED HIM TO PROTECT HER GRANDSON FROM THE FLAMES
A fire broke out yesterday at around 17:30 in a single-story detached house at 8424/3 Street, Şirintepe Neighborhood, Çiğli district. Upon the notice of the neighborhood residents who saw the smoke rising from the house, fire, health, and police teams were dispatched to the area. The fire was extinguished shortly after with the intervention of the teams. During the examination at the house, the lifeless bodies of Rezan Korkmaz and her grandson Yiğit Bulut Aydın were found. After the scene investigation, the bodies of the grandmother and grandson were taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy.
ONLY DAYS REMAINED UNTIL HIS BIRTHDAY
Relatives who arrived at the scene upon hearing the news of the fire experienced great sorrow. It was learned that Yiğit Bulut Aydın's birthday was on August 23. Meanwhile, it was stated that Yiğit Bulut Aydın's mother, Kadriye Aydın (32), moved into her parents' house with her 2 children after her husband went abroad for work. It was reported that to support the family, Kadriye Aydın made candle-based souvenir items and sold them in women's markets, while her husband Bayram Korkmaz (59) collected scrap.

It was revealed that when the fire started, Rezan Korkmaz carried her younger grandson Mert Aydın out of the house, then re-entered to save her grandson Yiğit Bulut Aydın inside. It was stated that Korkmaz's lifeless body was found collapsed over her grandson.
HE JUMPED OUT OF THE WINDOW TO LEAVE THE HOUSE
During the fire, the ceiling collapsed, and it was learned that grandfather Bayram Korkmaz jumped out of the window to leave the house, sustaining burns on his hands and back. After his treatment at the hospital, Korkmaz was reported to have been discharged.
The bodies of Rezan Korkmaz and Yiğit Bulut Aydın, whose autopsy procedures were completed, were received by their relatives today.
The investigation launched to determine the cause of the fire continues.
