US President Donald Trump asked Kimberly Guilfoyle, his son Donald Trump Jr.'s ex-fiancée, whom he appointed as ambassador to Greece, to resign. The resignation request for Guilfoyle, who serves as the ambassador to Athens, Greece, came to the fore after allegations regarding $100,000 in credit card debt and an investigation that was launched.

US President Donald Trump asked his former daughter-in-law and Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle to resign. White House Spokesperson Katie Zacharia announced that Guilfoyle had been asked to leave her post, while the decision coming after allegations about the ambassador drew attention.

TRUMP'S RESIGNATION DEMAND FOR HIS FORMER DAUGHTER-IN-LAW

Kimberly Guilfoyle, the former fiancée of US President Donald Trump's son Donald Trump Jr., serves as the US Ambassador to Athens, Greece. White House Spokesperson Katie Zacharia, at her first press briefing held on October 13, announced that Guilfoyle had been asked to resign.

Zacharia stated that Guilfoyle is a valuable figure for the administration and expressed that they wish her success in the period ahead.

In a statement the previous day, Trump had also expressed dissatisfaction with Guilfoyle's performance in her post.

ALLEGATION OF $100,000 CREDIT CARD DEBT

Among the allegations that have come to the fore about Guilfoyle, it is claimed that she asked a political donor to pay off a $100,000 American Express credit card debt.

Businessman Eric Deters claimed that Guilfoyle asked him to pay the debt in question before the Senate confirmation process for her ambassadorial post. The allegations led to debates over whether Guilfoyle used her political connections for personal gain.

It was reported that the Office of the Inspector General of the US Department of State has also launched an investigation into the matter.

GUILFOYLE DENIED THE ACCUSATIONS

Guilfoyle's lawyer objected to the accusations leveled against his client. The defense argued that the payment in question was connected to speaking and consulting services provided earlier.

While Guilfoyle also disputed the authenticity of the messages cited as the basis for the allegations, the investigation into the allegations against her continues.
