U.S. President Donald Trump argued that there has been a loss of production in China due to the tariffs imposed by his country, stating, "Factories are closing all over China because we are not buying their products." He also expressed his dissatisfaction with the production situation in China, saying, "I hope that at some point we will make a deal with China."

U.S. President Donald Trump evaluated the agenda regarding U.S.-China tensions during a cabinet meeting held at the White House.

"FACTORIES ARE CLOSING ALL OVER CHINA"

Trump claimed that production in China has declined and some factories have started to close due to the 145% tariffs they imposed on Beijing. U.S. President Trump stated that negative economic reports have come from China because they are not buying products made in China, saying, "I just saw some reports about the situation in China, and I don't want this to happen to China. I really like President Xi (Jinping). I was saddened by what I heard, but they are definitely taking a hit (in production) in China. However, I hope that at some point we will make a deal with China. We are talking to China, but factories are closing all over China because we are not buying their products."

"I WANT CHINA TO DO WELL"

Expressing that he is not happy with the situation regarding production in China, Trump said, "We do not want their products as long as they are not fair to us. We will see what happens. I am not happy to see this. I want China to do well. I want every country to do well, but they need to treat us fairly."

"RECIPROCAL TARIFFS" AND CHINA'S RESPONSE

U.S. President Donald Trump announced additional tariffs under "reciprocal tariffs" to trade partners, including China, on April 2. Following China's response, a tariff standoff began between the two countries, ultimately leading the U.S. to raise its tariffs on China to as high as 145%, while China imposed a 125% tariff on the U.S. The Washington administration delayed additional tariffs imposed on the EU and other countries for 90 days, while tariffs on China went into effect.

On April 25, Trump claimed in an interview with Time magazine that he had spoken with Chinese President Xi Jinping regarding tariffs, stating that details would be revealed at the appropriate time. The Beijing administration denied the claim that negotiations were ongoing, accusing Washington of misleading the public on this issue. In his latest interview with ABC News, Trump suggested that the Beijing administration would accept the tariffs of up to 145% they imposed, saying, "China will likely take these tariffs."
