"FACTORIES ARE CLOSING ALL OVER CHINA" Trump claimed that production in China has declined and some factories have started to close due to the 145% tariffs they imposed on Beijing. U.S. President Trump stated that negative economic reports have come from China because they are not buying products made in China, saying, "I just saw some reports about the situation in China, and I don't want this to happen to China. I really like President Xi (Jinping). I was saddened by what I heard, but they are definitely taking a hit (in production) in China. However, I hope that at some point we will make a deal with China. We are talking to China, but factories are closing all over China because we are not buying their products."
"I WANT CHINA TO DO WELL" Expressing that he is not happy with the situation regarding production in China, Trump said, "We do not want their products as long as they are not fair to us. We will see what happens. I am not happy to see this. I want China to do well. I want every country to do well, but they need to treat us fairly."
"RECIPROCAL TARIFFS" AND CHINA'S RESPONSE U.S. President Donald Trump announced additional tariffs under "reciprocal tariffs" to trade partners, including China, on April 2. In his latest interview with ABC News, Trump suggested that the Beijing administration would accept the tariffs of up to 145% they imposed, saying, "China will likely take these tariffs."
