It has been reported that U.S. President Donald Trump has approved a military attack plan against Iran but has not yet given a definitive order for the operation to begin.
On Wednesday night, Trump met with senior commanders in the Crisis Room at the White House to discuss the details of a possible attack on Iran. According to Bloomberg's report, White House officials have begun preparations for the possibility that the U.S. could strike Iran in the coming days.
The proposed attack plans include several options. One of them involves dropping 13,600 kilograms of bunker-busting bombs on Iran's heavily protected nuclear facilities using B-2 stealth bombers.
Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, "Iran will pay a heavy price for this attack," following a missile attack on Soroka Hospital in Beersheba by Iran. The hospital was one of many targets hit by Iran on Thursday.
It is reported that Trump has informed his advisors that he approved the attack plan against Iran but has not yet made the final decision to implement it.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump has thoroughly reviewed the attack plans targeting Iran's Fordow nuclear enrichment facility. However, he wants to see whether Iran will abandon its nuclear program before making a final decision. The newspaper reports that Trump believes having this attack plan ready will force Iran to come to the negotiating table.
An official from the Trump administration stated that several different options are being evaluated for the attack and that Trump is also closely monitoring Israel's military plans.
Previously, Trump had stated regarding this issue,
"I can attack, or I can choose not to."
