25% ADDITIONAL CUSTOMS TARIFF ON THE EU
Trump announced that tariffs on automobiles and trucks originating from the European Union will be increased to 25% next week. Trump stated that he made this decision because the European Union failed to comply with the agreed trade agreement.
Trump, in his statement on his social media platform, said: "Due to the European Union's failure to comply with our agreed trade agreement, I announce that I will increase customs tariffs on automobiles and trucks arriving in the United States next week. The tariff will be raised to 25%.
"RECORD IN PRODUCTION HISTORY"
If automobiles and trucks are produced at facilities in the US, no additional customs duties will be applied. Currently, numerous automobile and truck factories are being built in the US with over $100 billion in investment. This is a record in production history. The facilities will soon become operational. A situation similar to what is happening in the US today has never been seen before."
