BREAKUP CLAIM ON THE AGENDA
Tate McRae and Jack Hughes, who were reported to have been together since last November, are alleged to have ended their relationship.
According to Page Six's report, the 25-year-old Hughes told his friends that he was the one who ended the relationship. It was claimed that Hughes saw some "red flags" in McRae and therefore made the decision to break up.
Sources close to the 23-year-old McRae, however, argued the opposite, asserting that the famous singer was the one who ended the relationship.
The couple was first spotted together last November at Anton's restaurant in New York's West Village, and a few weeks later they were captured on camera walking side by side. It was suggested that Hughes made the first move in their relationship by sending McRae a message.
CLAIM THAT LAUGHING AT TRUMP'S JOKE ALSO AFFECTED THE RELATIONSHIP
It was claimed that problems in the relationship grew even larger following the political controversy that occurred after the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.
The US Men's Ice Hockey Team defeated Canada in overtime to become Olympic champions, with Hughes scoring the winning goal.
Following the championship, US President Donald Trump called the team by phone and invited the players to his State of the Union address. During his speech, Trump made a joke about the women's hockey team, saying, "We're going to have to bring the women too; you know that. Believe me, otherwise I'd probably be impeached, okay?"
Hughes was seen laughing at Trump's comments along with his teammates. The players later apologized, stating that they have a good relationship with the women's team.
PRO-TRUMP COMMENTS MADE ABOUT MCRAE
Following the controversy, McRae also faced insinuations that she supported Trump and the MAGA movement through her boyfriend Hughes.
In an interview with Variety, McRae pointed to the organizations she supports instead of making a direct statement about any political party or figure.
The famous singer said, "I like to say what I want to say through the organizations I support and the environment I create on my tour. I think it's pretty clear what kind of person I am and what I support."
It was also noted that McRae previously released a product whose sales revenue was transferred to the Global Fund for Women and The Trevor Project, which conducts suicide prevention work for LGBTQ+ youth.

While the parties have not yet made a direct statement regarding the breakup claim, the extent to which the controversy over Trump played a role in the end of the relationship has also not been confirmed.
