The highest ever October exports from Turkey to Germany took place.

07.11.2024 13:02

Turkey achieved its highest-ever October exports to Germany, amounting to 1.6 billion dollars. With a history of close relations, Germany is Turkey's most important trading partner. Despite concerns about global economic activities and the difficult days faced by the European economy, demand for Turkish products from Germany continues.

Although there have been slowdowns in exports to Germany recently due to the effects of COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine War, improvements in trade are observed with the continuation of close relations between the two countries.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated during his visit to Turkey last month that they wanted to restart intergovernmental negotiations with Turkey, saying, "In this way, many bilateral structures related to foreign policy or cooperation in the defense industry have been revitalized. Germany is also making efforts to develop relations between the EU and Turkey at the European Union (EU) level."

EXPORT TO GERMANY SET A RECORD

According to the data from the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), Turkey's exports in October increased by 5.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching 20.5 billion dollars. Turkey achieved its highest-ever October exports to Germany, amounting to 1.6 billion dollars. Turkey's exports to Germany increased by 7.9% in October compared to the same period last year. Germany, which is the country to which Turkey exports the most during this period, maintained its leading position in exports. The United States followed Germany with 1.3 billion dollars, the United Kingdom with 1.2 billion dollars, Italy with 1.1 billion dollars, and Iraq with 1 billion dollars.

INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS STOOD OUT

Industrial products stood out in Turkey's exports to Germany. The automotive industry made the highest exports to the country, amounting to 445.3 million dollars. This was followed by ready-to-wear and apparel with 211.7 million dollars, electrical and electronics with 131.9 million dollars, iron and non-ferrous metals with 123.2 million dollars, and chemical substances and products with approximately 104 million dollars.

In terms of value-based export increase to the country, hazelnuts and their products topped the list. The export of hazelnuts and their products to Germany increased by 28.2 million dollars in October compared to the same period last year.

In export growth, this sector was followed by ready-to-wear and apparel with 18.3 million dollars, electrical and electronics with 14.9 million dollars, steel with 11.6 million dollars, and dried fruits and their products with 9.9 million dollars.

To the country, hazelnuts and their products accounted for 91.9 million dollars, the steel sector for 66.1 million dollars, and dried fruits and their products for 36.2 million dollars in exports.

ISTANBUL HAD THE HIGHEST EXPORTS BY PROVINCE

When looking at the provincial basis, exports to Germany were made from Istanbul amounting to 646.5 million dollars, from Bursa 216.6 million dollars, from Izmir 120.3 million dollars, from Kocaeli 92.3 million dollars, and from Ankara 72.2 million dollars.

According to TİM data, the export amounts (thousand dollars) of sectors to Germany in October and the change rates compared to the same period last year are as follows:
