In a statement from the Ministry of National Defense, it was stated that "a technical and logistical support contract for the maintenance and operation of Eurofighter aircraft between Turkey and the UK will be signed today."

A new phase has been reached in the procurement of Eurofighter fighter jets. Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler held a meeting in England with British Defense Minister John Healey. The meeting addressed issues of defense cooperation.

MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION CONTRACT TO BE SIGNED

During the meeting between the two ministers, it was confirmed that the contract for the purchase of aircraft, equipment, and ammunition within the scope of the Eurofighter Typhoon Project was signed last October, and it was decided that the contract for technical and logistical support for the maintenance and operation of the aircraft would be signed today. The first Eurofighters are planned to be delivered to Turkey in 2030.

EUROFIGHTER FEATURES

The Eurofighter fighter jet is defined by its superiority over competitors in its field with features such as fuel capacity, engine power, wing area, length, high altitude, sea level, and range.

The twin-engine fighter jet was designed based on the French Dassault Rafale, Swedish Saab Gripen, and Russian MiG 1.44 aircraft. The Eurofighter, which stands out in airspace with its agility and electronic systems, is produced by a consortium consisting of British BAE Systems, French Airbus, and Italian Leonardo, one of Europe’s largest defense companies.

The Eurofighter fighter jet is produced by a consortium made up of the UK, France, Italy, and Spain. Without Germany's approval, other countries cannot sell to third countries.

The basic design and technical equipment of the aircraft were designed based on three different aircraft. The fighter jet, which has similar features to the French Dassault Rafale, Swedish Saab Gripen, and Russian MiG 1.44 aircraft, can lock onto targets quickly with its advanced electronic systems. With its maneuverability in the air, the Eurofighter surpasses jets of its class, having a wingspan of 10.95 meters and a maximum weight of up to 16,000 kilograms.

The fighter jet has a maximum takeoff weight of 23,500 kilograms, a fuel capacity of 5,000 liters, and an engine power of 60 kN. At high altitude, the maximum speed of the Eurofighter is 2,495 kilometers per hour, with a range of 2,900 kilometers or 65,000 feet. Agility and advanced electronic systems are among the most distinctive features of these aircraft, while at sea level, it can reach a speed of Mach 1.25 (1,530 kilometers per hour).
