At least 10 soldiers, including senior officer, martyred as military helicopter crashes in eastern Bitlis province.

Turkey's main opposition party leader extended condolences to families of the soldiers martyred in a military helicopter crash in eastern Turkey on Thursday.

"I wish Allah's mercy upon our soldiers who were martyred as a result of the helicopter crash. My condolences to their families and relatives, and quick recovery to our injured soldiers," Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu said on Twitter.

At least 10 soldiers, including a corps commander, were martyred as the Cougar-type military helicopter crashed in Bitlis province.

The contact with the helicopter, which took off from the eastern province of Bingol for the Tatvan district of Bitlis at 1.55 p.m.[1055GMT], was cut off at 2.25 p.m. [1125GMT]. -
