Turkey Hosts Nusret-2021 Invitation Exercise In Aegean Sea

Drill focuses on mine warfare, participants include NATO, Turkish forces, observers from various countries.

The Nusret-2021 Invitation Exercise hosted by Turkey began Tuesday in the Gulf of Saros in the northern part of the Aegean Sea.
Naval and air forces from NATO and Turkey, marine and air units of the Coast Guard Command, and observers from various countries are taking part in the exercise, which focuses on mine warfare and will run until Oct. 28.
The exercise aims to train the participants in mine warfare planning and execution, and also seeks to boost interoperability among the different countries, Mine Squadron Commander Rear Admiral Refik Levent Tezcan said at a news conference.
The interest and participation of friendly and allied countries is evidence of how this exercise increases our mutual cooperation and interoperability, he added.
