Top officials discuss agriculture issues, steps to improve situation of farmers in TRNC suffering due to pandemic.

Top officials from Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Thursday discussed steps to improve the situation of farmers in the TRNC suffering due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meeting at the presidential complex in the Turkish capital Ankara, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay and Nazim Cavusoglu, the TRNC's agriculture and natural resources minister, discussed cooperation between equivalent companies in the area of soil products as well as supplies of wheat, barley, and other feedstuff.

The officials exchanged views on Turkey making use of 350 tons of surplus raw milk produced in the TRNC.

Oktay and Cavusoglu also discussed irrigation plans for using 70 million cubic meters of drinking water supplied from Turkey to Gecitkoy Dam in the TRNC.
