Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Down At Tuesday's Close

BIST 100 loses some 8 points from Monday's close.

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,383.77 points on Tuesday, down 0.53% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,391.44 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 7.97 points from the previous close of 1,391.74 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,379.13 points, while its daily high was 1,393.38 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.05 trillion Turkish liras ($118.55 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 13 billion Turkish liras ($1.47 billion).

On the second transaction day of the week, 21 stocks on the index rose, 74 fell, and five were flat compared to Monday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by flag carrier Turkish Airlines, private lender Garanti BBVA, and petrochemical giant Tupras.

Real estate investment trust IS GYO was the best performer, with its shares up 5.08%, while stocks of another real estate investment firm Torunlar saw the sharpest drop, down 4.26%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,741.10 by market close, down from $1,750.55.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $70.80 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT).
