Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Starts Thursday Looking Up

BIST 100 index rises over 680 points from previous close.

Turkey's benchmark stock index started Thursday at 105,642.72 points, up 0.66% or 689.22 points.

On Wednesday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index surged 1.87% to close the day at 104,935.82 points with a daily trading volume of 16.5 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.7830 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Thursday, compared to 6.7750 at Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 7.4780, versus 7.4480, and one British pound traded for 8.3470Turkish liras, versus 8.3290 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $34.12 as of 10 a.m. local time . -
