Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Up 1.58% At Wednesday's Close

BIST 100 index gains 21.85 points from previous close.

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,407.46 points on Wednesday, up 1.58% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,393.25 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 21.85 points from Tuesday's close of 1,385.61 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,385.48 points, while its daily high was 1,407.46 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was more than 1.06 trillion Turkish liras ($123 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of over 11.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).

A total of 81 stocks on the index rose, 15 fell, and four remained unchanged compared to Tuesday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and iron and steel producer Eregli.

Shares of conglomerate Bera Holding performed the best, rising 9.98%, while stocks of pipe and tube producer Erbosan dropped the most, 3.44%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,777.70 by market close, up from $1,769.90 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was up 1.8% to $75.68 per barrel as of 6.43 p.m. local time (1543GMT).
