Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Up At Midweek Close

BIST 100 earns over 806 points from previous close.

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 115,171.27 points on Wednesday, up 0.71% from the previous close.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 114,281.84 points. As of the daily close, it had gained 806.74 points from Tuesday's close of 114.364,53 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 794 billion Turkish liras ($124 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 14.9 billion Turkish liras ($2.4 billion).

On the third transaction day of the week, 32 stocks on the index rose, 62 were down, compared to Tuesday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by defense giant Aselsan national flag carrier Turkish Airlines and an energy company Odas.

Real investment trust company Alarko Gyo was the best performer, with its shares up 11.83%, while airline company Pegasus dropped the most, losing 5.21%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,632.75 by market close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $54 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
