Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Up Nearly 1.38% At Open

BIST 100 index gains over 1,200 points from previous close.

Turkey's benchmark stock index was up by 1.38%, or 1,219.23 points on Tuesday to start the day at 89,278.67 points.

At Monday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down 0.07% at 88,059.46 points, with a daily trading volume of 7.8 billion Turkish liras ($1.9 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.5890 as of 09.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Tuesday, versus 6.5790 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate was down at 7.2530, compared to 7.2650 at the previous close, and one British pound traded for 8.1490 Turkish liras. It was 8.1740 at the previous day's close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $26.80 as of 10 a.m. local time on Tuesday. -
