In the latest counterfeit-adulteration list announced to the public by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, companies that produce in violation of food standards have been exposed. Among the inspection results, which include leading brands in the sector such as Eker, it has been officially documented that the product contents are contrary to regulations and do not match the label declarations.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry continues to update the list of foods that have been adulterated and could pose a health risk.

By meticulously examining samples in a laboratory environment, it is checked whether the products sold comply with the conditions, and those that do not are exposed. The ministry has made additions to the information available at "guvenilirgida.tarimorman.gov.tr".

DAIRY GIANT EKER IS ON THE LIST

One of the most shocking items on the updated list was related to Eker Dairy Products, one of Turkey's leading producers. Analyses conducted on "Eker Full Fat White Cheese (1000 g)" produced in the facilities in Mustafakemalpaşa district of Bursa showed that the product does not contain the fat content promised in its name. The product, which is placed on the shelves with the label "full fat," has been included in the official adulteration list due to its content falling below legal limits.

THE "MELTING SALT" TRICK IN GRATED CHEESE

In the ministry's inspections, not only fat contents but also the production techniques and additives of the products were questioned. In the full-fat fresh grated cheese belonging to Özışık Dairy Products based in Balıkesir, the use of "melting salt" in violation of regulations was found. According to food safety standards, products that use melting salt must be sold under the label "melting cheese" rather than "grated cheese." The company's practice, which acted contrary to this situation, has been recorded as direct food fraud.

The companies and products added to the list are as follows;

CREATED OUTRAGE ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Various comments were made on social media regarding the issue. Users found the low fat content of the product misleading despite the "full fat" label, expressing that trust in the brand has been damaged. Additionally, comments highlighting that consumers have been misinformed and that inspections need to be increased also drew attention.
