The pots for the 2026 World Cup have been announced. If the national team qualifies for the World Cup, it will be placed in pot 4. Meanwhile, our potential opponents in the first 3 pots have also been revealed.
Turkey will be placed in the 4th pot if it qualifies for the FIFA 2026 World Cup European Qualifiers.
4TH POT IF WE QUALIFY FOR THE WORLD CUP
In a statement from FIFA, it was noted that two teams from the intercontinental play-off matches and four countries from the European qualifiers will be placed in the 4th pot. The host countries Canada, Mexico, and the USA have been placed in the 1st pot, and the remaining 39 countries have been allocated into four pots, each consisting of 12 teams, according to the country rankings published on November 19, Wednesday.
The crescent-starred team, matched against Romania in the semi-final of the play-off round, will face the winner of the Slovakia-Kosovo match away if they pass this round to qualify for the FIFA 2026 World Cup. The 16 teams participating in the play-off stage, which will be played in a single-elimination format, will compete in four different play-off paths, each containing 4 teams.
PLAY-OFF MATCHES
In the semi-final matchups, teams in the 1st and 2nd pots will play their matches at home. The semi-final matches in the play-offs will take place on March 26, 2026, and the final matches will be held on March 31, 2026.
WHEN IS THE TOURNAMENT?
The 23rd World Cup, organized by the USA, Mexico, and Canada, will be held from June 11 to July 19, 2026.
