The EJDERHA High-Power Electromagnetic Countermeasure System, developed by ASELSAN and one of the most strategic components of the Steel Dome, can neutralize drone swarms in seconds during capability demonstrations. ASELSAN's General Manager Ahmet Akyol responded to a question about EJDERHA's range in an interview by saying, "Let that remain with us."

While we are surrounded by a ring of fire, Turkey's recent achievements in the defense industry continue to instill confidence in friends and fear in enemies. One of these weapons is the EJDERHA High-Power Electromagnetic Countermeasure System developed by ASELSAN, which is one of the most strategic components of the Steel Dome...

TO BE OPERATIONALLY DEPLOYED THIS YEAR

Turkey's layered air defense doctrine is evolving into a new dimension with the "Directed Energy Weapons" (DEW) in the Steel Dome. In the capability demonstration held at ASELSAN Gölbek Technology Base, EJDERHA received full marks for its performance against UAV and drone threats in various scenarios. The system, which has reached the low-rate production stage, is planned to be operationally deployed within this year.

ESCAPE IS NOT POSSIBLE

EJDERHA directly damages the electronic circuits of the target by emitting electromagnetic waves, unlike traditional munitions systems (missiles, anti-aircraft). The biggest advantage of the system is that due to the electromagnetic waves traveling at the speed of light, the UAV at the target has no chance of maneuvering to escape.

4 DIFFERENT SCENARIOS IN CAPABILITY DEMONSTRATION

  • In the demo attended by officials from the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) and security units, EJDERHA neutralized the following threats from hundreds of meters away:
  • Multiple Drone Threat: Three FPV drones were neutralized within seconds simultaneously.
  • Hybrid Threats: Wired and wireless FPV drones coming from different angles were successfully stopped.
  • Hardware Destruction: The system proved its effectiveness by causing physical circuit damage to the Mugin engine, Talon wing, and paddle servo motors.
