Our National Football Team, who defeated Austria 2-1 in the round of 16 of the 2024 European Football Championship, advanced to the quarter-finals. The national team will share their cards with the Netherlands in order to advance to the semi-finals in this round. On the other hand, Orkun Kökçü and İsmail Yüksek, who received yellow cards in the crescent-star team, will not be able to wear the jersey against the Netherlands.

ARDA AND KENAN MAKE HISTORY
Our 19-year-old players Arda Güler and Kenan Yıldız, who started the match in the starting 11, made history in the championship. Turkey became the first country to include two players under the age of 20 in the starting 11 in a knockout match in major tournaments (European Championship & World Cup) since Hungary (EURO 1964 vs Denmark).
HISTORICAL GOAL FROM MERIH
The national team won a corner kick in the first minute of the match, which was carried by Barış Alper from the right wing. Merih Demiral scored the loose ball from Arda Güler's corner kick and put the ball into the net, giving Turkey a 1-0 lead. This goal by Merih became Turkey's earliest goal scored in tournaments. It also became the second earliest goal (52 seconds) scored in the history of the European Championship.
ORKUN AND İSMAİL WILL MISS THE QUARTER-FINALS
Orkun Kökçü, who received a yellow card in the 11th minute, and İsmail Yüksek, who was punished with a yellow card in the 42nd minute, became suspended for the next match. Orkun and İsmail will not be able to play against the Netherlands in the quarter-finals.
MERIH ONCE AGAIN ON STAGE
Merih Demiral, who left his mark on the match, appeared on the stage again in the 59th minute. Merih rose to the ball from Arda's corner kick and headed it into the net, giving his team a 2-goal advantage.
GREGORITSCH'S GOAL WAS NOT ENOUGH FOR AUSTRIA
Austria responded to this goal in the 66th minute with Michael Gregoritsch, reducing the deficit to 1. With no more goals in the remaining minutes, the victorious side that advanced to the quarter-finals was the Turkish national team.
OUR OPPONENT IS THE NETHERLANDS
After defeating Austria 2-1 in the round of 16, the Turkish National Team will face the Netherlands, who defeated Romania 3-0, in the quarter-finals. The two teams will compete in a match on July 6th in Berlin.
