In the armed attack that took place in Hamburg, Germany, 2 Turks were killed and 1 Turk was injured. Hamburg police and the prosecutor's office are focusing on the possibility that the incident may be linked to organized crime syndicates.
An armed attack was carried out on September 1 at a business complex located on Lagerstrasse Street, opposite the Hamburg International Exhibition Center in the St. Pauli district of Hamburg, Germany. After nearby people heard consecutive gunshots and reported it, numerous police and health teams were dispatched to the area. Police teams found a 47-year-old man seriously injured by gunshots in the parking lot. Despite the intervention of health teams, the injured man died. During a search of the building, a second male, aged 33, was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head. German media claimed that a weapon was found near the deceased or in his hand, but this information was not officially confirmed by the Hamburg Public Prosecutor's Office. It was learned that the 2 people who lost their lives were Turkish citizens.
48-YEAR-OLD TURK INJURED
In the incident, a 48-year-old Turkish citizen was also injured by a bullet that grazed his head. It was reported that the injured man left the scene by his own means and applied to Hamburg University Hospital UKE, and that his life was not in danger. German media reported that before the attack, a group of 8 to 10 partially masked people entered the business complex, and gunshots were heard shortly after. The police took the weapon, ammunition, and some vehicles at the scene into examination. The investigation is being carried out by the Hamburg Homicide Division (LKA 41) and the Organized Crime Unit together with the Hamburg Public Prosecutor's Office.
ISMAIL OZEN LINK NOT CONFIRMED
At the business complex at Lagerstrasse 11 where the attack took place, there is also the boxing club of Ismail Ozen, a former professional boxer and owner of Universum Boxing. In a statement made through his lawyer, Ozen stated that the incident was not related to him, that the attack did not occur in areas belonging to their companies, and that he did not know the people who lost their lives. It was also noteworthy that a hand grenade was thrown at the same business complex on the night of June 26, and that in July, a sign containing insults targeting Ozen was removed by police near Elbbruecken. The police have not disclosed any evidence of a link between these events and the latest attack.
SUSPICION OF ORGANIZED CRIME
While the Hamburg Public Prosecutor's Office stated that there were indications of a "dispute within a criminal organization" behind the incident, claims that the attack was a "mafia settling of accounts" have not yet been officially confirmed. The police's efforts to capture the attacker or attackers continue.
