Turkish Stocks Up At Tuesday Close

BIST 100 index rises 6.73 points from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands at 7.9730.

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,320.98 points on Tuesday, up 0.51%.

After starting the day at 1,323.16 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 6.73 points from Monday's close of 1,314.25 points.

On Tuesday, the BIST 100 hovered between 1,310.98 and 1,334.26 points – 88 stocks on the index rose and nine fell compared to the previous close.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 981 billion Turkish liras ($126 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 37.2 billion Turkish liras ($4.7 billion).

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lenders Garanti and Yapı Kredi Bank, and real estate investment trust Emlak Konut.

Catering company DOCO was the best performer of the day, with its shares up 10%, while stocks of iron and fertilizer manufacturer suffered the most, losing 9%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,812.00 by market close, down from $1,865.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $46.90 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Tuesday.
