Two siblings who entered the lake to cool off in the Tuşba district of Van lost their lives. Their father also suffered from a near-drowning incident and is still receiving treatment. Authorities warned against swimming in areas without lifeguard services.
Two siblings died after entering the lake to cool off in the Tuşba district of Van. 18-year-old S.A. and 24-year-old M.A., who entered the lake near Amik Castle, suddenly began to struggle in the water. Their father, S.A., who noticed the situation and tried to save his children, also experienced a drowning hazard.
Upon the notification, Coast Guard Van Lake Group Command, Van Police Department marine police, and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the region.
FATHER WHO TRIED TO SAVE HIS CHILDREN CONTINUES TREATMENT IN HOSPITAL
The father and his two sons, pulled from the water by nearby citizens, were taken by ambulances to Van Yüzüncü Yıl University (YYÜ) Dursun Odabaş Medical Center.
Despite interventions, the two siblings lost their lives. It was learned that the father's treatment continues.
Teams warned citizens not to swim in areas where swimming is not recommended and where lifeguard services are not provided, to prevent drowning incidents.
