Two trucks coming from opposite directions collided on the D-750 highway near Çiftehan village in the Ulukışla district of Niğde. The drivers Hacı Ömer Coşkun (24) and Cemil Demir (42), who were trapped in the vehicles that caught fire after the accident, were extricated by firefighters, but both were determined to have lost their lives. TRUCKS COMING FROM THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION COLLIDED
The accident occurred in the evening hours near Çiftehan village on the D-750 highway in Ulukışla district. The truck with license plate 42 KJ 736 driven by Hacı Ömer Coşkun collided with the truck with license plate 31 ACT 306 driven by Cemil Demir, which was coming from the opposite direction. Upon reports from those around, health, gendarmerie and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the accident scene.
RESCUE WORK AMID FLAMES
After the accident, the trucks caught fire. Firefighters responding to the flames also began work to extract the drivers trapped in the vehicles. It was determined that the drivers Coşkun and Demir, who were rescued from where they were trapped by the firefighters, lost their lives.
The trucks that caught fire were extinguished by intervening with pressurized water. After the investigation at the accident scene, the lifeless bodies of Coşkun and Demir were taken to the morgue.
The gendarmerie launched an investigation into the accident.
