On November 8, Uğur Akkuş announced that he filed for divorce from his wife Ebru Şallı. Sharing the divorce petition on his social media account, Akkuş stated, "Today, I applied to the Beykoz 1st Family Court to divorce my wife Ebru Şallı, whom I have been with for 7 years, whom I married with great love and effort. The reason for my desire to divorce will be discussed and written about by my close circle, my loving family, and everyone who knows me. Knowing this, I wanted to write from here."

Akkuş explained the reason for his divorce decision by saying, "The only reason I filed for divorce and my desire to divorce is that I am no longer happy. I thought this relationship was a marriage of love and affection, but it turns out everything was about money and materialism! I understood this very late and with difficulty. I decided to divorce because I have decided to live a happy and peaceful life."
