In a speech at the launch of his party's local election campaign in Wolverhampton, Starmer made statements to the press regarding the war between the US-Israel and Iran and the Strait of Hormuz.
In response to a question about whether he is considering sending British troops to the war in the Middle East, Prime Minister Starmer replied, "This is not our war and we will not be dragged into this war."
Emphasizing that the UK will maintain its current stance during this process, Starmer stated that his country is taking "defensive measures" to protect the interests of its citizens and its allies in the region.
WILL CONVENE THE CABINET
Starmer emphasized that they will continue to defend the interests of the UK and work to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, stating:
"There are many discussions about the Strait of Hormuz and what we can do to open this strait. Because this is the most effective way to lower energy prices. I will hold another Emergency Cabinet Meeting today. In this meeting, we will address the economic impacts of the war and ensure that all necessary measures are taken, and that everything is being monitored and controlled properly."
