In the corruption investigation against the Şile Municipality, WhatsApp messages between arrested suspect Berkant Acil and his artist brother Haluk Levent have come to light following a review of Acil's phone. Records included in the investigation file reveal a check worth 29 million TL, vulgar messages, and severe threats from an individual named 'Zodiac'.
Striking details have emerged in the investigation into corruption allegations at the Şile Municipality. During examinations of the phone of Berkant Acil, who was arrested and sent to prison, WhatsApp messages regarding money and check transactions with his brother Haluk Levent were detected.
CHECK WORTH 29 MILLION LIRA
According to records in the investigation file, Haluk Levent's number was saved in Berkant Acil's contacts under the name "Haluk Son7." It was determined that Acil sent a screenshot of a check worth 29 million TL to this number, which was to be paid on April 20, 2026, provided there was sufficient balance in the account.
HALUK LEVENT: YELIZ WILL HANDLE EVERYTHING
After sending the message, Berkant Acil called Haluk Levent but received no response. He then sent a message regarding the same check to another number saved in his contacts as "Haluk Son8." Haluk Levent replied to this message, saying, "I'm in New York. Yeliz will handle everything," according to records.
VULGAR CURSES TOWARD HALUK LEVENT
According to details in a news report from Sabah newspaper, approximately one week after these conversations, it was detected that Berkant Acil's brother sent a curse-laden message to Haluk Levent, saying, "I **** your honor."
BLOOD-CURDLING THREATS FROM ZODIAC: THE STATE WON'T BE ABLE TO TAKE HIM FROM ME
One of the most striking correspondences in the file took place between Berkant Acil and a foreign phone number saved under the name "Zodiac." In messages sent by the individual named Zodiac targeting Haluk Levent and the Ahbap Association, the following severe threats were made:
"Peace be upon you, Beko. Dad, answer the phone, it's important. I don't need to read anything; tell that guy if he doesn't return by 7:00 PM tomorrow, I'll **** his seven generations. Then we'll report the post, checks, and everything they did through Ahbap. He should finish this business tomorrow and reach a proper solution. Send him my many regards from me. Tell him, whatever it is, don't say anything—I used a name for you. You know who we are and where we come from. Tell him to **** those checks Ahbap gave to people. The state won't be able to take him from me; I'll get to him first."
It was reported that in response to these severe threat messages, Berkant Acil replied to Zodiac, saying, "Dad, I'm helping my daughter study. I can't talk about these things in front of her. I wrote to Haluk as soon as you called. If he replies, I'll tell him you were looking for me."
