In the indictment prepared for the corruption, bribery, and extortion investigation against Bolu Municipality, a prison sentence of up to 263 years and 6 months was sought for suspended Mayor Tanju Özcan. Within the scope of the investigation, various charges were brought against 19 suspects, including Deputy Mayor Süleyman Can.
In the indictment prepared for the corruption, bribery, and extortion investigation conducted at the Bolu Municipality, a prison sentence of up to 263 years and 6 months was sought for suspended Mayor Tanju Özcan.
The 178-page indictment, prepared by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office within the scope of the investigation initiated upon a complaint from the Ministry of Interior's Inspection Board, was sent to the Bolu 3rd Heavy Penal Court.
Prison sentences were sought for various crimes against a total of 19 suspects, including arrested Deputy Mayor Süleyman Can.
MULTIPLE CHARGES FILED
In the indictment, the suspects were charged with "extortion by duress", "attempted extortion", "bribery", "qualified fraud", and "violation of Law No. 5072 on Foundations and Associations".
For Tanju Özcan, a prison sentence of 90 years and 3 months to 263 years and 6 months was sought for 6 counts of "extortion by duress", 3 counts of "attempted extortion", 34 counts of "qualified fraud", and 1 count of "bribery".
PRISON DEMAND ALSO FOR DEPUTY MAYOR
For arrested Deputy Mayor Süleyman Can, a prison sentence of 27 years and 6 months to 64 years was sought for 5 counts of "extortion by duress" and 2 counts of "attempted extortion".
For BolSev Foundation Board Chairman Ali Sarıyıldız, a prison sentence of up to 218 years and 9 months was sought for "aiding extortion", "attempted aiding extortion", and "qualified fraud".
It was stated that prison sentences of varying lengths were also sought for other suspects on different charges in the indictment.
