US Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa David Satterfield will travel this week to five countries, including Turkiye, according to a State Department statement Tuesday.
Satterfield will visit Kenya, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Turkiye and Israel from Jan. 24 to Feb. 4.
"Special Envoy Satterfield will hold meetings with officials from respective governments and key stakeholders to promote democratic civilian rule in Sudan and to support peace and prosperity in the Horn of Africa," said the statement.
"This travel immediately follows his trips to Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Ethiopia where he accompanied Assistant Secretary (Molly) Phee to advance democracy, peace, and stability in the Horn of Africa," it added.
Satterfield served as US ambassador to Turkiye between June 2019 and early January when his successor, Jeff Flake, took office. -
