US Stocks Open Down Amid Recession Concerns

VIX volatility index soars 6.11% to 30.2.

US stocks lower Tuesday amid recession concerns related to expectations of more interest rate hikes from the Fed.

The Dow was at 31,741 points, down by 138 from its previous close.

The S&P 500 lost 47 to 3,933, while the Nasdaq fell by 208.6 points to 11,326.

The VIX volatility index, known as the fear index, soared 6.11% to 30.22 at GMT1412. The dollar index dropped 0.25% to 101.8.

Gold was up 0.86% to $1,863.7 and silver rose 0.1.3% to $22.

Global oil benchmark Brent crude was trading at $111.1, up 0.34% at 1350GMT, while West Texas Intermediate also rose 0.22% to $110.5. -
