New regulations will be implemented in the vehicle inspection sector with a draft regulation prepared by the Ministry of Trade. According to the draft, a lower and upper limit will be set for inspection fees. Fees may vary depending on vehicle class, inspection scope, and province/district basis.

ALL VEHICLE INFORMATION WILL BE UPLOADED TO THE SYSTEM

According to the news in Sabah newspaper, inspection businesses will upload their reports and vehicle identification information to the Vehicle Inspection Information System. Vehicle registration, inspection, mileage, damage, and service records can be queried through the system.

INSPECTION COMPANIES WILL BE RESPONSIBLE

According to the new regulation, inspection companies will be held responsible for depreciation and repair costs arising from faults, damages, or deficiencies not included in the report.

In the draft, the malfunction of systems such as air conditioning and power windows will be considered as "function loss," and abnormal sounds from the engine or transmission will be considered as "audible operation."

If more than 30 percent of a part is painted, it will be recorded as "painted" in the report.

RIGHT TO OBJECT WITHIN 5 DAYS

If the inspection report is considered incorrect or incomplete, an objection can be made through the system within 5 days. If the objection is accepted, the vehicle will be re-examined, and the report will be renewed free of charge.

Inspection reports will not include misleading comments that could affect the bargaining power of the buyer or seller.
