Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on citizens to save fuel due to the energy crisis following the Iran war. Modi urged reducing the use of petrol and diesel, and asked citizens to postpone foreign travel and weddings by at least a year. It was noted that India has been severely affected by the crisis due to its dependence on Middle Eastern energy resources, and it was reported that the government had previously intervened in fuel distribution with emergency powers.

“WE MUST REDUCE PETROL AND DIESEL USAGE”
Speaking at a public gathering on Sunday, Modi emphasized the need to increase the use of public transportation.
“We must reduce our petrol and diesel usage. In cities with metro systems, we should use the metro. If we have to drive, we should opt for carpooling,” said Modi, also stressing the importance of saving foreign currency.
“POSTPONE OVERSEAS TRAVEL FOR A YEAR”
Modi asked citizens to reduce gold purchases and postpone overseas travel.
“The trend among the middle class of having weddings abroad, taking vacations, and traveling is spreading. We should postpone overseas travel for at least a year,” he stated. It is noted that in recent years, Indian couples have preferred to hold weddings at luxury hotels in Thailand.
ENERGY CRISIS HITS INDIA
India, with a population exceeding 1.4 billion, is among the countries most affected by the Iran crisis due to its imports of oil and natural gas from the Middle East.
It was learned that after Iran's pressure on the Strait of Hormuz, the Indian government previously used emergency powers to redirect fuel allocated for industry to households.
