Hikmet Karaoğlan, who paid 46,400 TL for the birth of his baby at a private hospital in Hatay, filed a complaint against the hospital to the Social Security Institution and the consumer board, citing that a fan was placed in the room due to the air conditioning being broken. While the 46,400 TL he paid was refunded to Karaoğlan, the hospital was fined 230,000 TL, which is five times that amount.
Hikmet Karaoğlan's wife, who lives in the Antakya district of Hatay, gave birth in a private hospital 5 months ago. After a successful surgery, officials stated that the air conditioning in the room where the mother and baby were staying was broken and provided a fan.
46 THOUSAND 400 TL REFUNDED, 5 TIMES FINE IMPOSED ON HOSPITAL
Karaoğlan, who did not accept this situation and reacted to what happened, recorded those moments and sent them to the Social Security Institution (SGK) and the Consumer Arbitration Board. In the investigations, the hospital was found at fault, and it was decided to refund the 46 thousand 400 TL taken from the Karaoğlan family for the surgery. Additionally, SGK imposed a penalty of 230 thousand TL, which is 5 times the amount paid to the hospital.
Karaoğlan stated that he would file a lawsuit and pursue his rights to the end, warning citizens who were victimized because of the hospital to "pursue your rights."
"THEY PUT A FAN IN THE ROOM AT 45 DEGREES HEAT"
Hikmet Karaoğlan, who shared his experiences, used the following statements: "My wife gave birth here in a private hospital 5 months ago. They allocated a room for us in the hospital. I was expecting service in return for the money I paid. They had put a fan in the room in a weather of 45 degrees. I told this to the nurse. The nurses said the air conditioners were broken. I said okay. We gave birth and left the hospital. I complained about this situation to the SGK and the consumer board. It turned out that the money taken from me was unlawful.
"MANY PEOPLE HAVE BEEN VICTIMIZED IN THIS WAY"
I received a letter stating that 46 thousand 400 TL would be refunded. I was told to discuss with the hospital for the refund of my money, and I spoke with the hospital. The hospital told me that they were penalized due to the incident. SGK wrote a fine of 5 times 46 thousand TL to the hospital, they were fined 230 thousand TL. Many people have been victimized here in this way. All of you should pursue your rights. I pursued my rights. I also discussed this issue with the hospital. I asked them to refund my 46 thousand 400 TL. They said, 'We were penalized for this, you should take your money through your lawyer.' I have now spoken with my lawyers, and we will open the necessary lawsuit, and if necessary, I will file a material and moral lawsuit. I will get my money back, and I received a letter stating that my money will be refunded."
