The Medium-Term Program covering the 2027-2029 period for the Turkish economy is being announced by Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz at the Presidential Complex. The year-end inflation forecast has been set at 28.4 percent. The growth forecast is 3.3 percent.

As the preparations for the Medium-Term Program (MTP), which serves as the road map for the Turkish economy for the 2027-2029 period, have come to an end, Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz is sharing the details of the new MTP with the public.

With the MTP, the route to be followed in critical areas such as financial and price stability, growth, and employment will be determined. The allowance proposal ceilings for public administrations will also be included in the MTP.

Here are the highlights from Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz's speech;

TARGETS IN THE CURRENT MTP

In the MTP covering the 2026-2028 period, the economy was targeted to grow by 3.8 percent in 2026, 4.3 percent in 2027, and 5 percent in 2028.

Inflation was projected to be 16 percent for this year, 9 percent for 2027, and 8 percent for 2028. The budget deficit-to-gross domestic product ratio was calculated to be 3.5 percent in 2026 and 2.8 percent by the end of the program period. In the said program, unemployment rate targets were set at 8.4 percent for 2026, 8.2 percent for 2027, and 7.8 percent for 2028.

Exports were targeted to reach 282 billion dollars by the end of this year, 294 billion dollars in 2027, and 308.5 billion dollars by the end of the program. Imports were projected to be 378 billion dollars in 2026, 393 billion dollars next year, and 410.5 billion dollars in 2028.
