A nurse alleged to have subjected a 91-year-old patient receiving treatment at Sinop Atatürk State Hospital to violence was arrested. In security camera footage recorded in the Palliative Care Unit, the nurse was seen wiping the mouth of the elderly patient she was feeding with a harsh movement. After the family's complaint, the prosecutor's office took action and launched an investigation, while the nurse, who had been taken into custody, was arrested by the court she was brought before and sent to prison.
The incident experienced by 91-year-old H.A. at Sinop Atatürk State Hospital came to light through security camera footage. Nurse E.B. was arrested in the investigation launched upon the family's complaint.
FOOTAGE FROM THE HOSPITAL EMERGED
A judicial process was initiated following allegations of violence against 91-year-old H.A., who was receiving treatment in the Palliative Care Unit of Sinop Atatürk State Hospital. Security camera footage from the unit where the incident occurred revealed what happened while nurse E.B. was attending to the elderly patient. The footage included moments when the nurse was feeding the patient, and H.A. spat the food out of their mouth. The nurse was then seen wiping the elderly patient's mouth with a tissue using a harsh motion. These images were among the important evidence in the investigation.
PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE TOOK ACTION AFTER FAMILY'S COMPLAINT
After the footage emerged, the family of the 91-year-old patient filed a complaint against the nurse. Following the complaint, the Sinop Chief Public Prosecutor's Office launched a judicial investigation into the allegation of violence against the patient. Within the scope of the investigation, the incident in the security camera footage was taken under examination. What happened while the patient was being fed and the nurse's intervention were at the center of the judicial process.
ALLEGATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST ELDERLY PATIENT RESULTED IN ARREST
Within the scope of the investigation, nurse E.B. was taken into custody by police teams. After completing procedures at the police station, the nurse was later referred to the courthouse. The court decided to arrest nurse E.B., who had been taken into custody on allegations of applying violence to the 91-year-old patient.
