Çorum FK head coach Burak Yılmaz assessed his team's situation. Speaking about his former teammates Cengiz Ünder and Çağlar Söyüncü, the young coach said, "On the field, I don't recognize my father. If they're good, they'll play; if they're bad, they'll wait. That's what I told them when I first arrived. Since they know me very well, I don't think we'll have any problems on any issue, but they are two very valuable players. Their being here makes us happy."
Arca Çorum FK continued its preparations for the match it will play away against Gaziantep FK on Sunday, October 11, in the 7th week of Trendyol 1st League. Çorum FK Technical Director Burak Yılmaz, in his statement to journalists before training at the club facility, said that he was happy that the red-and-black team wanted to chase its dreams with him.
''WE WANT TO GET TO GOOD PLACES''
Stating that Çorum FK has good players, Yılmaz said, "Rather than a good team, we have good players, but I think we have not yet become a complete team. We are working in this direction. We thank our previous technical director, our brother Uğur, very much. He left us a valuable squad. We, in our own style, hope to reflect our own football philosophy and understanding of the game and, all together, want to get to good places."
Expressing that in his meeting with Çorum FK President Savaş Balçık he saw that they had the same goals, Yılmaz noted that his football-playing and technical director periods passed with "challenge," and that Çorum FK was a longer-term project for him.
''ON THE PITCH, I DON'T RECOGNIZE MY FATHER''
Recounting that he played football together with Cengiz Ünder and Çağlar Söyüncü, who wear the red-and-black team's jersey, on the national team, Yılmaz continued as follows:
"But I am a coach. On the pitch, I don't recognize my father. If they are good, they will play; if they are bad, they will wait. This was what I told them when I first arrived. Since they know me very well, I don't think we will have any trouble on any subject, but they are two very valuable players. Their being here makes us happy. My other players are also very valuable. I have very important players—Turkish, foreign, young. If we go together on the path to becoming a team, to becoming a family, I believe success will come. Because we have a valuable squad."
