WHITE HOUSE: ELECTIONS IN VENEZUELA DO NOT MEET DEMOCRATIC STANDARDS White House National Security Communications Director John Kirby evaluated the latest developments in Venezuela during the daily press briefing. Kirby fully agreed with independent reports claiming that the election results in Venezuela did not meet "democratic standards" and "election security principles," and therefore called on the Nicolas Maduro administration to disclose comprehensive election results as soon as possible.

PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN VENEZUELA According to the results announced by the Venezuelan Electoral Council, Nicolas Maduro won the presidential election for the third time with a 51.20% vote share. After the completion of the elections, the opposition, in a statement on July 29, claimed that the National Electoral Council data was incorrect and that the results were fraudulent. In protests held in the country due to allegations of fraudulent election results, 11 people have lost their lives in clashes between security forces and protesters so far.
