Mustafa Destici, leader of the Great Unity Party (BBP), commented on the investigation into the Ahbap Association, saying, "It has emerged that the money collected under the guise of charity went to gambling, prostitution, and betting. Now we condemn this and hope they pay the heaviest price."
Mustafa Destici, Chairman of the Great Unity Party (BBP), participated in the wheat harvest in the rural Gecek Neighborhood of Günyüzü district, his hometown in Eskişehir.
"THE VILLAGER MUST EAT WHERE THEY ARE BORN TO STAY HERE"
Stating that farmers need to be well-fed where they are born and that the young population in rural neighborhoods is decreasing day by day, Destici said, "We must definitely support those who produce food, the farmer, and the villager. This villager must eat where they are born to stay here. There is currently no young population in the villages. In our village, there were 300 students in our time. Now there are 3 students. One is the child of our village headman, one of the imam, and the other of a neighbor. Previously, there were 3-5 in every household. Therefore, this villager, this farmer, must eat where they are born. They must live here with a clear conscience and dignity. They must have access to education and healthcare. These roads need to be better, transportation easier, so that the villager stays here and continues to produce. Our primary support should go to our farmer, our production, our producer. I thank all our farmers for their support of Turkey's production."
"THE QUOTA AT THE TURKISH GRAIN BOARD MUST BE REMOVED"
Noting that it is harvest time for barley and wheat fields, Destici said the product purchase quota of the Turkish Grain Board (TMO) is insufficient. Making evaluations on this issue, Destici stated, "Our farmers were told that however much product they bring to the Turkish Grain Board, all of it will be purchased at the base price. Now we see a quota is being implemented. Therefore, this quota must be removed, and the Turkish Grain Board should purchase all of whatever the farmer has produced, without any deficiency. That is, the farmer should not experience any grievances in this regard."
"WE EXPECT THE AHBAP ASSOCIATION TO PAY THE PRICE IN THE HEAVIEST WAY"
Responding to journalists' questions about the investigation concerning the Ahbap Association and Haluk Levent, Destici said the following: "There is a spiral of immorality. Now the Ahbap issue is a concrete example of this. The Red Crescent made a mistake right at the start of the earthquake. The management and president at that time. We also said then that this was wrong. While saying it was wrong, we also said we needed to protect state institutions. I am among the top politicians who made the highest donations to AFAD during that period. As party members, we also provided aid to the Red Crescent. We did not go and donate to an organization or association like Ahbap, whose background is unclear. But unfortunately, some television personalities who were at the forefront of society at that time advertised them every day. They provided photos and encouraged politicians to direct there, especially the main opposition. In the end, a corruption emerged. It turned out that the money collected under the guise of aid went to gambling, prostitution, and betting. Now we condemn it and hope that they pay the price in the heaviest way possible."
