The exhumation process that will clearly reveal whether Cem Garipoğlu, who brutally dismembered his girlfriend Münevver Karabulut in 2009, is really dead or not, will take place on Thursday, October 3. With the exhumation decision given by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, Garipoğlu's grave will be opened. Samples taken from the grave will be taken to the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institution and will be examined by teams there. The DNA samples taken from the Garipoğlu family will be compared with these samples. "IT WAS OBSERVED THAT DEAD SPOTS HAD FORMED ON HIS BODY"After the exhumation decision, the autopsy conducted following Cem Garipoğlu's suicide in Silivri Prison came back to the agenda. Garipoğlu had committed suicide in prison on October 30, 2014, and an autopsy was performed afterward. According to the report recorded during Garipoğlu's autopsy, he was described as being 1.70 meters tall and weighing 78 kilograms, with "3-4 days of beard and mustache, fair-skinned, circumcised." It was reported that dead spots had formed on his body, and dark purple colors were observed on the areas of the back of the body that did not experience pressure, as well as on the face and upper chest. "A KNOTTED RED UNDERWEAR STRING AROUND HIS NECK"According to a report by Sabah, on the day of the incident, the guards who came to room number 3 found Garipoğlu lying on the ground with a bag on his head, a knotted red nylon underwear string around his neck, naked on top, and wearing sweatpants on the bottom. It was learned that the string belonged to the canteen, and a 0.4-centimeter string mark was found under both his right and left ears. No traumatic changes were detected other than the string mark. HIS DNA MATCHES SAMPLES FROM 2009During the autopsy conducted 10 years ago, a blood sample was also taken with FTA. Samples were taken from the heart, lungs, kidneys, and liver for examination. Investigations were also conducted on samples taken from blood, urine, vitreous fluid, bile, stomach, and stomach contents. As a result of the examinations, no alcohol, drugs, or sedatives were detected. The autopsy report stated that the blood sample taken from Garipoğlu when he was arrested in 2009 was compared with the sample taken after his death, and both samples were found to be compatible. In the comparison made with the DNA profiles taken from his mother and father, it was reported that both the mother and father were biologically related to him with a 99.9% probability. In the autopsy report, the cause of death was stated as, "It has been concluded that Garipoğlu's death occurred due to mechanical asphyxia (closure of external and internal airways, oxygen deficiency) resulting from the bag being placed over his head, causing closure of the mouth and nose, and the application of a ligature to the neck."
