What happened in 18 minutes may unveil the veil of mist in the delicate murder case.

The distance between the house where Nevzat Bahtiyar confessed to carrying Narin Güran's body and the point where he said he hid it was measured as a 7-minute drive by car. Narin was last seen on the school's security camera at 15:15, while Bahtiyar's car arriving at the riverbank at 15:40 raised questions. The authorities are trying to uncover the mystery of the 18 minutes left when the time spent on the road is subtracted.

NEVZAT BAHTİYAR CONFESSED TO DESTROYING NARIN'S BODY

Narin Güran, who went missing on August 21 in the rural Tavşantepe neighborhood, was found dead in a sack in Eğertutmaz Stream, covered with stones and bushes, on the 19th day of the search. As part of the investigation, it was determined that a red car came to the area near the stream where Narin's body was found at 15:40 on August 21 and parked there for about 50 minutes. It was revealed that the red car belonged to plasterer Nevzat Bahtiyar. Subsequently, Nevzat Bahtiyar was taken into custody.

"I PUT NARIN'S BODY IN THE SACK ALONE AT MY RESIDENCE"

In his initial statement, Nevzat Bahtiyar said that he finished his work in Çarıklı, which is 5 kilometers away from the neighborhood, in the afternoon and returned to Tavşantepe. He stated that Salim Güran delivered the body of Narin to him in the car and they loaded it into his own car together. In his statement at the court hearing after being taken to the courthouse, Bahtiyar said that he put the body in a sack at his house and took it to the riverbed, saying: "I placed the sack with Narin's body at the bottom of the natural rock by the water and put a stone on top of it. It was not noticeable from the outside. My statement at the prosecutor's office regarding Salim, 'I killed Arif's daughter, you will also take this body and destroy it. Otherwise, I will kill you and your family,' is true.

"I WAS AFRAID OF SALIM GÜRAN"

I did not mention this situation in my previous statement because I was afraid of Salim Güran. Later, I placed Narin's body alone in the sack at my residence. During the search activities, Salim and the gendarmerie personnel with him came to look at the old well in my mother's courtyard. After burying Narin's body, I came face to face with Salim here for the first time.

"I DELETED MY RECORDS RELATED TO THE INCIDENT DAY"

As a gendarmerie personnel, no one asked me anything. Apart from that, none of Narin's relatives asked me anything about Narin's body. I had previously deleted my records because my records were increasing. I also deleted my records related to the incident day myself. No one had any influence or advice in this regard. I regret this situation," he said. Nevzat Bahtiyar was arrested on September 10 for "participation in intentional killing" and sent to prison.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Narin Güran, who went to a Quran course in Tavşantepe neighborhood in Bağlar district on August 21, was reported missing when she did not return home. Her family searched for her on their own, but when no results were obtained, Narin's father Arif Güran reported her missing around 20:00 on the same day. As a result, numerous search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area, and searches were conducted in houses in the neighborhood and vehicles entering the village.

While the search was ongoing, Narin's brother E.G. (18) was taken into custody due to bite marks on his arm. Since it could not be determined whether the bite marks belonged to Narin in the examination at the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute, E.G. was released.

Then Narin's uncle, who is also the muhtar (village head) of rural Tavşantepe neighborhood, Salim Güran, was taken into custody. It was determined that the DNA samples taken from his car matched the DNA samples from Narin's clothes, and Salim Güran was arrested for "intentional killing" and "deprivation of liberty."

The teams, who focused on the previously searched areas again, conducted a search in Eğertutmaz Stream, which is 2 kilometers away from the neighborhood, and found Narin's lifeless body on the 19th day. It was determined that Narin's body was put in a sack and thrown into the stream after being killed, and it was covered with stones.
