Most recently, Tuğçenaz Demirelöz (20), a first-year medical student at Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, was found dead in her room at the female student dormitory. CAUSE OF DEATH TO BE DETERMINED BY AUTOPSY
Health teams arriving at the dormitory upon notification confirmed that Tuğçenaz Demirelöz had passed away. While it is alleged that the young student had a heart rhythm disorder, it has been reported that the exact cause of death will be clarified after the autopsy.
5 STUDENTS LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS
With the death of Tuğçenaz Demirelöz, the student deaths occurring in KYK dormitories in June have come back into the spotlight. Muhammed B.G., a student at Mardin Artuklu University, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in the dormitory; while in Burdur, Zehra Kaçar died after falling from the 6th floor of a KYK dormitory. In Kırklareli, Halil İbrahim Gökşen reportedly ended his own life, and in Izmir, Ege University student Zeynep Dicle Çalışır was found dead in her dormitory room.

According to a report by Yeniçağ, following the series of student deaths, the security, health services, and accommodation conditions in KYK dormitories have once again become a subject of debate.
